Measuring Internet traffic and user activity levels

We measure domain names' per-prefix activity levels by probing DNS cache, the methodology is centered around non-recursive ECS query.

My contributions:

  • Discussed experiment design.
  • Prepared relevant prefixes for ECS query from per-AS user population, BGP prefix dump and traceroute dump dataset; I combined several techniques and improved, from 2000 hours to 2 hours, the data processing performance of Pandas script.
